June Blanche Anna was born June 19, 1931, near Shadehill, SD, to Oliver and Clara (Seim) Anderson. She grew up on the family farm near Almont, ND. She graduated from Almont High School in 1948 at age 16 and earned her country school teaching certificate from Dickinson State College at 17. She taught at country schools, including Beaver Valley, off and on until 1960. Early in her teaching career, she met Chester Kaelberer. On June 5, 1951, June and Chester married at Scandinavian Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sims, ND. They farmed south of New Salem, raising wheat and cattle. Daughter Margie was born in 1952 and was one of June’s students at Spring Valley country school south of Judson, ND. June returned to Dickinson State during the summers, earning her bachelor’s degree in education in 1963. She taught in Scobey and Glendive, MT, from 1960–1964 and in Bismarck from 1964–1970. She retired from teaching in 1970 when son Greg was born.
After Chester retired, he and June spent many winters in Yuma, AZ. They also worked two seasons in Yellowstone Park. June loved gardening, reading, traveling, visiting, playing cards, and spending time with her family. She had an amazing recall of family history and never forgot a birthday. In 2012, she and Chester moved to Bismarck to be closer to Margie.
June is survived by daughter, Margie (Jerry) Ziemann of Bismarck; son, Greg (Angie) of Waseca, MN; grandchildren Nathan (Kelly) Ziemann of Rochester, Jonathan (Stacey) Ziemann of Bismarck, and Kristi (Kris) Lien of Fargo; and great-grandchildren Brenden, GracieLee, Abigail, Mia, Noah, and Peyton Ziemann. She is also survived by her sister, Alice Bopp; brother, Clayton Anderson; sisters-in-law Marian Berger and Carol Kaelberer, and many nieces and nephews.
