A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Legacy United Methodist Church, Bismarck, ND. A livestream of the service will be available on the church website by clicking here.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bismarck Funeral Home, Bismarck. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday

Jessica was born March 22, 1978, to Jim and Vicki Malard of Hazelton, ND. She graduated from Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock High School in 1996.

Jessica married the love of her life, Cody Kummer on July 28, 2012, at the Banks Lutheran Church in Watford City, Cody’s hometown. When they joined in marriage, Jessica’s son, Nickoli and Cody’s daughter, Regan became siblings and were proud to welcome baby Connor to the family that April.

Jessica loved her job at Border States Electric working as a Lighting Specialist. She was passionate about doing good work in the right way. If you went anywhere with Jessica, she analyzed the lighting in buildings, walkways and parking garages and could always tell you how to make things brighter and better.

Jessica’s friends describe her as a strong, smart, and funny woman who was the life of the party, as long as the party was over by 9:00 PM and wasn’t too “peopley”. Her perfect comedic timing paired with the perfect amount of raunch added to her charisma. She tended to make anyone who spoke with her feel like they were the most important person in her world. Jessica was a great mom, always putting her kids first. She adored her husband and her fur babies ferociously.

Jessica loved decorating her house. She was a big fan of using Pinterest for inspiration. She enjoyed sharing TikToks, especially those she knew would be hilarious to the receiver.

Jessica will be deeply missed by her husband, Cody; sons, Nickoli and Connor; daughter, Regan; her parents, Jim and Vicki; her sister, Monique and brother-in-law Curt and their children Tucker, Sawyer and Larkin; her sister, Alicia and her son Trevor; her brother, Josh, his wife Renae and their children Kaitlyn, Jenna, and Allie; and her in-laws, Brooks and Carol Kummer; and her sister-in-law, Shonna.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arnold and Viola Ohlhauser and Edwin and Valda Malard.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to an animal shelter of your choice in memory of Jessica.

Had the privilege of working with Jessica and becoming friends with her over the last 10 years. Absolutely loved her wit, charm, and huge heart. I’ll miss her dearly.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Cody, kids, family and friends. I got the pleasure of meeting Jessica when I moved back to ND. My first trip to Eaton training in Msp was with her. So many laughs in so little time. Always enjoyed the continued friendship and meetups in Fargo. You will be missed, now you can “transform” from above. ❤️

RIP Jess

Working with Cody at HTM, I had the privilege of meeting Jessica . Through the years we all have had the opportunity of following each other on social media. Jessica loved life to the fullest, always posting positive things on her FB page, and showing her love for Cody and their family. Spending time at the lake, and doing mom things seemed to make her the happiest. Her smile, laugh, and sense of humor set her apart from the crowd. My heart goes out to Cody and his kiddos, I can’t even imagine the tremendous hurt for this unexpected loss. Jessica will be missed, and I hope the very best for Cody. I’m extremely saddened and will mourn her passing with positive prayers for her family. Love you guys. Alex-

My thoughts and prayers are with Jessica’s family. My heart breaks for all of you during this trying time. Faith, family, and friends will get you through this loss.
