Jason Sawyer

Share:

Jason Manley Sawyer, age 49, died on Sunday, September 15, 2019 in Bismarck, ND. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 am, Friday, September 20, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bismarck.

Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 19 at 5 – 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 at Bismarck Funeral Home.

Jason was born on March 23, 1970 in Minot, ND to Wayne and Avis (Bjella) Sawyer. He graduated from Minot High School and later attended Minot State College, as well as University of North Dakota, obtaining a degree in psychology. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Colorado where he began his 22-year career with Enterprise.

Jason was a devoted, loving uncle and brother. In 2009, he moved back to Bismarck to help raise his niece and nephew. He loved watching them grow and was so proud of all their accomplishments.

Jason had a love of the outdoors, camping and most recently hunting and fishing. He was obsessed with the Dallas Cowboys and was a dedicated UND Sioux hockey fan. He adored his girlfriend, Tammy and enjoyed spending time with her and her family. Regardless if they belonged to family or friends, Jason had open and loving arms for all the children in his life. You could often find him in the crowd cheering them on at their events and activities.

Throughout his life, Jason was a loyal friend; always there with a helping hand and a listening ear. He had a quick wit, a huge smile and contagious laugh (especially when he was laughing the loudest at his own jokes). Jason made an impact on all those he encountered and will be missed by many.

Jason is survived by his sister, Kori Erikson, of Bismarck; his niece and nephew, Lauren and Ryan; his significant other, Tammy Roesler, of Mandan; and his brother, Mark Sawyer.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Blaine Erikson.

We so enjoyed getting to know Jason over the years as we cheered on our kiddos at all their games together! He always offered a smile and had a great sense of humor! The love for family was always obvious when you were around Jason. He will be missed no doubt and my heart breaks as he is gone much too soon.

WHY? dear Jason! I will miss you. Many fun, good and special memories will stay captured in my heart. It will take time to understand that you have left us so young and early. So unbelievable SAD. I wish we could talk instead of me writing here, I wasn’t done talking to you, following your footsteps in life. I can’t attend the funeral but hope it will be a filled with love from your special friends and loved ones. In my memory forever, ever. Hope to see you “on the other side”. Although it’s been years since we spent time together, I still have such great memories of traveling with you in UWP. Such a funny, generous, positive person. I’m sorry that we didn’t get to spend time together in the intervening years and sorrier still that we won’t have the opportunity going forward. To Jason’s family and friends, my deepest condolences. Jason was one of the kindest most genuine individuals i met. He was a mentor and a friend. Every time he called it wasn’t just business he checked in with you to make sure you were okay. When i was working crazy hours for 3 months straight last summer, jason called me weekly to check in with me to make sure i was okay. I won’t ever forget that. Wouldn’t of made it through that without him. Thank you my friend. God speed and ill see you down the line
