Hella D. Keller

Hella D. Keller, 91, of Bismarck, passed away January 30, 2022.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, ND with Rev. Thomas R. Marcis Jr. officiating. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. A Livestream of the Service will be available on the Bismarck Funeral Home Facebook page.

Visitation will be held Thursday, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bismarck Funeral Home, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.

Hella was born on August 22, 1930, to Paul and Martha (Hoger) Reuther in New Salem, ND.

On July 14, 1948 she married Edwin “Red” Keller in New Salem, ND.

Together they made their home in Bismarck, ND where they raised their six children.  While she was a busy mother, she also worked at First National Bank and then Sweetheart Bakery where she retired after 25 ½ years.  She also enjoyed working for the WIBC national Bowling tournament and in the North Dakota Legislature journal room for 12 sessions.

In Hella’s spare time she enjoyed bowling, crafts, camping, fishing, and traveling. She also took part in the Beaverette Homemakers, the Red Hats, and Zion Lutheran Women’s Auxiliary.  She also volunteered at the MedCenter One Gift Shop and Meals on Wheels.

Hella will be deeply missed by her six children, Sterling (Jan) Keller of Auburn, GA, Susan (Al) Heilman of Bismarck, ND, Sherry Kroh of Indianapolis, IN, Steve (Mary) Keller of Snohomish, WA, Shelly (Kevin) Lockard of Bismarck, ND, Scott (Terri) Keller of O’Fallon, MO; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin; son-in-law, Allen Kroh; 1 grandson; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Hella made us feel welcomed as a neighbor when we moved from Dickinson to Bismarck. Prayers and hugs to the family.
