Ethel Bloom, 83, formerly of Wilton, passed away peacefully at the Baptist Health Care Center on December 16, 2019.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 20th, at Bismarck Funeral Home.  The visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.  Burial will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, 1:00 p.m. in Mandan.

Ethel was born on April 20, 1936 to Anne (Kabylnick) and Edward “Sofat” Krush.  She grew up in Wilton and graduated from Wilton High School.  While in school, Ethel was very active in extracurricular activities such as band, tap dancing and cheerleading.  After graduation, Ethel spent a year in Denver, CO and attended the Denver Secretarial College.  On a visit home from Denver, she became reacquainted with high school friend Donald Bloom.  Ethel never went back to Denver; she and Don were married on May 4, 1957.

Ethel and Don were married for 62 years until Donnie’s passing in the spring of 2019.  They lived in several towns across North Dakota, moving back to their hometown of Wilton in 1994.

Ethel worked several jobs but spent the majority of her life doing housekeeping for various families.  Her own home was always festively decorated for every holiday.  In her free time, she loved camping with her family and playing cards with her sister and sister-in-law.  She also enjoyed casino trips and having coffee with friends.  Ethel and Donnie worked together on many crafts – attending craft shows and sales – with Ethel oil painting and Donnie doing woodwork.

Ethel is survived by her children, Perry Bloom, Mandan; DeeAnn “Dolly” Bloom, Minnetonka, MN; granddaughter, Nichole Bloom, Bismarck; brother, LoWayne (Judy) Krush; sister, Ladine (Jeff) Zwarych; brothers-in-law, Marvin (Darlene) Bloom and Bill Huhn, and many nieces and nephews who knew her as “Hurricane.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and her parents, Anne and Edward.

The family would like to say a heart-felt thank you to the caregivers and staff at the Baptist Health Care Center.
