Evelyn Faith Bourgois passed away peacefully on May 14th at the Baptist Home in Bismarck.  She spent her final days surrounded by her loving family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Bismarck Funeral Home.  Burial will be at the Baldwin Cemetery. A Livestream of the Service will be available on the Bismarck Funeral Home Facebook page.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 PM at Bismarck Funeral Home, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.

Evelyn was born on October 16, 1930, in Bismarck, ND to Enos and Florence Strandemo. The Strandemos resided on a farm near Baldwin, ND where Evelyn was raised with her two brothers and one sister, all of whom predeceased her.

At about age 20, Evelyn married Kenneth Bourgois of Baldwin, ND. They farmed and raised their family near Baldwin, north of Bismarck.

Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family, including her husband, children, her parents and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was an excellent seamstress and an excellent cook and baker. She also helped outside with the farm work and could operate a tractor with the best of them.

In later years, after her husband, Ken, had passed away, she moved to Overlook Ridge, an over 55 apartment building in Bismarck. She greatly enjoyed the new friends that she made there.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Tim Bourgois (Helen), Thomas Bourgois (Sandy), James Bourgois (Tammy), Marc Bourgois, and Nancy Bourgois Graham (Thomas Graham). Evelyn had ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Baldwin Cemetery

So very sorry to hear of Evi passing. She was a beautiful lady inside and out with her gentle touch and wonderful smile. She truly was an inspiration to many. Our kids loved visiting her at the farm as she always had fresh yummy cookies for them. May God wrap his loving arms around all of you and bring you comfort from fondest memories. Love, Linda & Albert Kuntz Family

She was a lovely person. So kind, warm, and welcoming. She was one of those rare people who made you feel cared for even if you only just met her. Anyone who met her has been blessed to know her.

Dearest Aunt Evi – you will be missed, yet I know you are now with Uncle Ken and Sherry in a wonderful place. Love you and one of my best memories as a child is your chocolate cake and frosting you would make, could smell it when we came to stay with you. Sitting at your table, having that cake and glass of milk and visiting with you. Then you would scoot us up the stairs and I played with the beautiful dresses you had for us to play with, those are great memories. Bye for now and someday I hope to see you and Sherry, your beautiful little girl again. Love to you and your family who has my deepest sympathy for their loss. Carrie Ann Bourgois – Small 5-18-22

I have fond memories of my family (Willis & Betty Franklund) visiting with the Bourgois family at Baldwin. God’s blessings to all of you. In friendship & prayers ~ Diane (Franklund) & Ward Enger

I met Evi 2 years ago when I moved into Overlook Ridge Apartments. We had many conversations about family, farming, coloring, and lots of interesting subjects. She was such a kind, caring, understanding woman, and so well liked by all her friends at the Overlook. I loved talking with Evi and have missed her when she moved from here. She was so proud of her family and loved having her sons so close by. I will continue to miss Evi, but I feel blessed to have had her as a friend —
