Verna V. Kauk, 86, Bismarck, passed away on July 7, 2019 surrounded by her loving family, after struggling with cancer for 6 years.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., at Faith Lutheran Church, Bismarck.  Burial will take place following the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at the Bismarck Funeral Home.  Verna was born in rural Wishek, ND, on April 25, 1933 to Herman and Otillia (Ketterling) Boschee.  She was raised and educated in the Wishek public school and graduated from Wishek High School.  She worked at the Red Owl store in Wishek for 8 years.

Verna loved dancing and that’s how she met the love of her life, Eddie.  They got married, on September 7, 1952, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Wishek.  Together they had two children, Delila and Bruce.  They farmed for several years before moving to Lead, SD where they lived for 12 years. 

 In 1970 they moved to Bismarck.  Verna worked for Q&R clinic and MedCenter One for 24 years, retiring in July of 1993.She was an energetic and hard worker in all the things she would do. Her love was helping others and putting others first.  She was very active in her church and altar guild for many years, along with friendship circle.  Verna also was active in the Women of the Moose and enjoyed playing pinochle and even belonged to a pinochle club.  She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing.Verna and Eddie enjoyed many years of camping with their children and friends.  They also went on lots of trips and cruises.Verna enjoyed life, especially with family.  She would share her talents as a good cook and baker and having family gatherings.

Verna is survived by her daughter, Delila Shaw, Bismarck; son, Bruce Kauk and dear friend Allan Lunz, Minneapolis; three sisters, Pearl Meidinger, Bismarck, Marlys Schneider, Bismarck, and Beverly (Jerry) Fischer, Fauklton, SD; brother, Milo Boschee, Denver, CO; sisters-in-law, Linda Boschee, Lois Boschee, Marilyn Boschee and Marianne Boschee; many nieces and nephews; her dear church family who were all very important to her and very supportive and loving. She was preceded in death by her husband Eddie who passed away in 2010; her parents; brothers, Emil, Eugene, Roger and Verdine; infant sister, Delilah; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Boschee.
