Wilbert William Ochsner, 84, Bismarck, formerly of Wing, ND died August 16, 2017 at the Sanford Health Center, Bismarck. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wing, ND. Visitation will take place at the church one hour before the service. There will also be visitation on Friday August 18 from 5:00-8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Bismarck Funeral Home.
Wilbert was born March 15, 1933, to Arthur and Pauline (Weisenburger) Ochsner on the family farm in Kidder County. He graduated from Tuttle High School in 1951. He worked in Montana until 1957 when he joined the U.S. Army. He served in Germany for two years. After his discharge from the Army, he began working on transmission power lines. On November 20, 1960, Wilbert married Ann Kaye Hetletvedt in Tuttle. The couple moved to Wing ND in 1963 where they began their family and were also members of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Wilbert opened a blacksmith shop in Wing, he drove school bus and later a freight truck line hauling groceries and freight for local businesses. In 1978, Wilbert began work as a shop welder for the Falkirk Mining Company where he worked for 17 years before his retirement.
Wilbert was an avid hunter, trapper and local pool player. He enjoyed being with his family and his grandkids.
Wilbert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann, his children Terry (Mary Kay) Ochsner, Tracy (Bert) Meza and Todd Ochsner; his grandchildren, Trenton (Megan) Ochsner, Erika Ochsner, Elianna Meza, Trevin Ochsner, Clayton and Samantha Enzminger, Tiffany and Teilla Drury; great-grandchild Caleb; sisters, Ruby Severson and Delores (Robert) Gellner and sister-in-law, Pat Ochsner.
Wilbert is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clifford and Clarence Ochsner; an infant brother and an infant sister; father-in-law, Christ and mother-in-law, Anna (Anderson) Hetletvedt.
