On March 27, 2018, while at her home, Terry Ann Kuester, 54, left this world to walk with Jesus. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck.

Visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday, April 2, at Bismarck Funeral Home.

Terry Ann was born September 9, 1963 in Minot, ND to Thomas and Barbara (Buchholz) Johnson. She was educated in Dickinson, until her family moved to Williston in 1978. Terry was a wrestling and football cheerleader in high school and graduated, with honors, from Williston High School. Terry attended UND Williston and graduated from Dickinson State University in 1985.

Terry was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On February 12, 1983, she married her high school sweetheart, Todd A. Kuester of Williston.  God blessed them with four beautiful children, Cassandra Megan, Brooks Casey, Brittany Ann, Cole Todd, and one grandchild, Grace Ann. The family resided in Dickinson until 1987 at which time they moved to Bismarck.

While in Dickinson, Terry began her career as an elementary teacher in South Heart, ND. Terry Joined Bismarck Public Schools in 1987. During her time there, she served students for 29 years, as a Paraprofessional (3 years), an elementary teacher and instructional coach (16 years), and an amazing principal (10 years). As a servant leader, she was highly respected and loved by her colleagues and students. Her approach to leadership always reflected her belief of doing what was best for kids. Terry helped to open Liberty Elementary in 2014. She resigned in June 2016.

 

Terry’s greatest loves were her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her husband of 35 years Todd, her four children, one grandchild, all extended family members, and her many dear friends. She loved working for the Lord and was always ready to share Christ and reflected His light and love with everyone. Terry was a Sunday school teacher and a confirmation leader, and member of American Lutheran Church in Mandan.

Terry is survived by her husband, Todd A. Kuester, son Brooks C. Kuester Bismarck, daughter Brittany A. Kuester (Grace A. Winking), Bismarck, and Cole T. (Katie) Kuester Northwood, ND; brother Todd Johnson, Wasilla, AK; sister Melanie (Paul) Keeling, Minot. Terry is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Terry is preceded in death by her daughter Cassandra Megan, her mom, Barbara A. Johnson, father, Thomas L.  Johnson, and her aunt, Janice and uncle Butch, and both sets of grandparents.

Terry leaves the following scripture to all her family and friends; “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to American Lutheran Church, 1101 10th St. SE
