Ronnie Schumacher, 49, Lincoln, died August 16th in his home. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Ascension. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m.
Ron was born on May 30, 1968 to Herbert and Shirley Schumacher in Bismarck. Ron worked for the Bismarck Public Schools for 25 years-most recently as the Head Custodian at Legacy High School.
Ron married Joette Wanner June 30, 1990 and from that union came a son, Dalton and daughter, Kyra. Ron’s family was very important to him. His proudest moment came December 30, 2016 when he became a grandpa to Berkley Taylyn, he was so excited to teach her how to fish and already called her his “fishing buddy”.
Ron was an avid sportsman; hunting and fishing were his passions. Ron would take breaks from holiday gatherings to go catch one more fish or scout one more deer before supper.
Ron had genetic Polycystic Kidney Disease and was the fortunate recipient of a donated kidney on July 13, 2017. He was on a great road to recovery from his surgery and was looking forward to getting back in his boat to go fishing with his favorite fishing partner, his wife Joette.
Ron touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew him.
Ron is survived by his loving wife Joette, son Dalton, daughter Kyra, and granddaughter, Berkley; his parents, Herbert and Shirley; brothers, Gerald (Judy), Larry (Theresa), Donny (Erika), sister, Nancy (Takashi) Edo; mother-in-law, Margaret Wanner; brother-in law, Ardean (Sonya) Wanner, Sisters-in-law, Rachel (Eldon) Mehrer, and Lorele (Merlin) Leithold; several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jacob and Dorothy Schumacher, George and Hilda Welder, brother-in-law, Gary Wanner and father-in-law, Donald Wanner, and many aunts and uncles.
