Lois Jean Patch, 94, Bismarck, released her spirit to Heaven on April 3, 2018, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck, surrounded by her loving family.  A memorial service will be held at Evangel Church, 3225 N 14th St, Bismarck, on Friday, April 20, at 11:00 a.m. Her grandson, Rev. Kaleb Graham, will be officiating. Jean's ashes will be buried beside her husband at the appropriate time this coming summer. Family will greet guests starting one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lois Jean was born Feb 20, 1924 in Trenton, ND, the 4th of 7 children of J.T. and Evelyn Wilkinson.   Jean graduated from Trenton High School as valedictorian and attended business college in Fargo.  She returned to Williston, working as a secretary at Nash Finch Co. for several years during WW 2.  On March 18, 1944, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Marvin Patch, while he was on emergency family leave from his service as an Army Air Corps pilot in the Asian Theater.  After his return from active duty in late 1945, Jean and Marv established their home in Williston, ND, where they raised their growing family.  In 1959, they moved to Bismarck where their youngest (9th) child was born.

Jean was active in the McCabe United Methodist Church for many years and her deep Christian faith was evident throughout her life.

Widowed in 1978, Jean devoted herself to her greatest joy - her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. She was an avid writer and loved her computer.  Her family history stories often appeared in the Bismarck Tribune.  She was especially pleased when one of her stories was published in a book, "The Wise Old Owls of North Dakota".  Her incredible memory and keen wit were a marvel to all. Jean's remarkable talent for connecting with even total strangers to find something in common with them was undeniable.

She will always be remembered for her loving, kind and compassionate nature.  As a resident of Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center for the last 5 years of her life, she always expressed gratitude and appreciation for the loving care given to her by the staff there.

Jean is survived by her children, Lana (Roger) Sundahl, Gig Harbor, WA, Linda (Larry) Weigel, Puyallup, WA, Debbie (Steve) Goetz, Mandan, ND, Ron Patch, Michael (Ruth) Patch and Jon (Cheryl) Patch, Bismarck, ND, 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and sister, Vanessa Blaine and brother, Bill Wilkinson.

She was greeted in Heaven by her husband, Richard Marvin, sons, Billy and Rich, daughter Muffy, granddaughter Janine Welch, great-grandson Spencer Patch Evanenko, 2 sisters, Joan Wilkinson and Jackie Petty, and 2 brothers, Jim Wilkinson and Tom Wilkinson.
