Lars Fred Nitschke, 43, died Monday, July 30th, 2018 in Moorhead, MN.  Services for Lars will be in Bismarck as follows:  The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 5th, at Bismarck Funeral Home.  A memorial service will be held Monday, August 6th, at 1 p.m. at GracePoint Church.
Lars was born in Ellendale, ND and attended Underwood Public School.  He was a talented student athlete and band member. After high school he graduated with a welding certificate from Bismarck State College.  He worked multiple welding positions throughout the state of North Dakota.  Lars is probably best known for being an amazing salesperson.  He worked for many years selling appliances and electronics at Montgomery Wards and Sears in Bismarck, ND.  
Lars loved sports. You could often find Lars participating on a sports team, watching games with friends, or being a referee.  Many who knew Lars could vouch he was probably the Kansas Jayhawks Mens Basketball team’s biggest fan. He also enjoyed rooting for the Chicago White Sox and San Antonio Spurs.  
Lars was a very open about his struggles. He was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous.  He faithfully attended group meetings, supported their events, and also volunteered to publicly speak to many different groups.
Lars was a loving and caring father and brother.  He survived by his daughter Allyia Hanson, New Salem, and his sister, Janet Nitschke, of Bismarck.  He also was survived by his extended family from his father’s side: Bruce Switzer, Ottawa, Canada; Mary and Matthew Holden, Ottawa, Canada; Ken and Lori Switzer, Vancouver, British Columbia; Barbara Nannenga and Willie Kassman, Verona; Tom and Candace Nannenga, Oakes; Jesse Nannenga, Aberdeen, SD; Tami and Rocky Foss, Oakes; Mary and Al Isaacson, Moorhead, MN; Jim and Laura Ringuette, Minneapolis, MN; Jeff and Kristy Ringuette, Moorhead, MN;  Roy and Anna Nitschke, Loveland, CO; Jake and Melissa Nitschke, Centennial, CO; and Matt and Rachael Hamilton, Littleton, CO.   
Lars is preceded in death by his mother and father, Thalada Nitschke and Charles Nitschke, both of Underwood, ND; his grandparents, Thorwald and Kamma Mikaelsen, Kulusuk, Greenland; and Fred and Marion Nitschke, Edgeley, ND.
