Jordan “Jeff” Monroe, 85, Bismarck, passed away May 13 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. A memorial service will be held at Bismarck Funeral Home, Hwy 83 & Calgary Ave., Bismarck on May 31 at 10:30 a.m. A military service will take place at the ND Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan at 3:00 p.m.
Jordan was raised in Ithaca, NY and graduated from Ithaca Sr. High School in 1950. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving his country for 20 years, deployed to both the Korean and Vietnam wars. While enlisted, he met and married his wife Llola Mae Alling while stationed in Okinawa Japan in 1952. In 1955, he was selected as an Air Science Instructor at Cornell University. After retiring from the Air Force in 1970, Jordan worked in various management positions at the ND Lung Association, Bismarck Holiday Inn, ND Disaster Emergency Services, Basin Electric Power Cooperative and Sun Bank Systems in Orlando, FL.
Jordan is a Past Master of Masonic Lodge #132 in Bismarck, served as President of the Mandan Indian Shriners, is a lifetime member of Bismarck Elks Lodge #1199 and was Post Commander for the Bismarck VFW.
Jordan is survived by his wife of 64 years, Llola; five children, Melissa (Mike) Samuelson – Tappen, David (Mary) Monroe – Bismarck, Greg (Suzi) and Scott (Sheri) Monroe, both of Dickinson, Michelle (Robert) Dockins – Fort Worth, TX; 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jeffrey, his grandchildren Amanda Monroe, Corey Hager and Anthony Monroe.
