Janice Widenhoefer, 79, passed away June 1, 2018 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 7, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Elgin.
Jan was born December 24, 1938 in Mott, ND, a precious 3 pound Christmas gift to William and Ella (Hintz) Mees. She was raised and educated in Mott, graduating from high school in 1957. Jan continued her education, completing training to become a licensed practical nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson, ND.
Jan was employed at the Bismarck Hospital for 25 years. In 1984 she married Max W. Widenhoefer in Bismarck.
Jan and Max were two peas in a pod and together enjoyed their everyday life (almost) every single day. They loved shopping, camping, reading, baking and eating cookies. Jan was also a part of a weekly bible study group for many years and always enjoyed visiting with friends.
Janice is survived by her husband, Max; Max’s children: Annette, Bruce, Craig, Don and Ernest and their families, all in Illinois; her sisters: Ardyce Reisenauer, Turlock, CA and JoAnne Deringer, Bismarck; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Leo Reisenauer; nephews, Garth and Robert Reisenauer; who together happily rejoiced upon her joining them in heaven.
Jan’s family also wishes to heartfully thank the compassionate and caring staff at Missouri Slope Care Center. You are truly angels on earth.
