Ernest was born December 11, 1936 in Emmons County, ND to Ludwig & Martha (Eichorst) Ohlhauser. He was raised on a farm near Hazelton. He attended school in Hazelton and graduated in 1955. He entered the Army after graduation. He served 2 years and was honorably discharged November 12, 1957.
He worked for Occident Elevator in Cleveland, ND shortly after leaving the military. In 1961 he went to work in Beulah at the Peavey Lumber Yard where he was manager for 30 years. In 1991 he moved to Jamestown where he worked at United Building Center until his retirement in 2001. He then moved to Bismarck.
He was an avid card player and enjoyed playing with both family and friends. He enjoyed meeting up with his friends for coffee and going to exercise, although we think he was there mainly to socialize as well. He was well like by everyone he met. He loved to joke around and had a great sense of humor. Even though he was never married he was very dedicated to his family.
He is survived by his sisters, Edna Zerr Flynn, Bismarck and Janice (Joe) Juma, Minot; brother-in-law, Earl Nelson, Fargo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rudolph; sisters, Tillie (John) Wahl, Florence (Ted) Ohlhauser and Eleanor Nelson; and brothers-in-law, Robert Zerr and Donald Flynn.
