Doris Jean Schock passed peacefully the morning of October 25, 2017 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. Services celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, at 10:30 a.m.
Doris was born February 3, 1936, in Wishek, ND to Gottliebe and Mary Walth. She was raised on a farm southeast of Wishek, and graduated from Wishek High School in 1955.
Doris married Emil Schock from Burnstead, ND on October 21, 1956 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wishek. After marriage they moved to the Schock farm in Burnstead, where they farmed from 1956-1962, and then moved to Wishek.
Doris worked at the Wishek Community Hospital for 20 years, and another 20 years at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck before retiring. She was known for her work ethic and was a perfectionist in all she did. Doris and Emil resided in Bismarck for 37 years, and celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in October of this year.
Doris is survived by her husband, Emil, son, Blaine (Bernie) Schock, Bismarck, daughter, Gloria (Kirk) Flaa, Sioux Falls, SD, grandchildren, Ashley (Tyler) Wetsch, Austin (Holly) Schock, Eli Flaa, Elliot Flaa, and great grandchildren, Beckham and Maverick Wetsch, sisters, Monika Michaelsohn, Wishek and Diana Heaton, Fargo.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Edna Donner.
The family requests memorials be directed to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
