Donna Mae (Egerdahl) Kienzle, 75, passed away May 26, 2017 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 1st Baptist Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Bob Weiss officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday, June 2, from 5 – 8 p.m. at Bismarck Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service.
Donna was born March 10, 1942 to Elmer and Tillie Egerdahl in Jud, ND. She went to school in Jamestown and then graduated from Lehr ND in 1960. On September 28, 1960 she married the love of her life, Curtis Kienzle. Together they raised one daughter and two sons.
Donna worked at Q&R Clinic from 1968 to 1973. Her and Curt then started Curt's Mobile Home Service where she did bookkeeping and also daycare unti 1996. She then went to work for the Bismarck School System preparing meals. In 2000 she went to work for the Bank of ND until her retirement in 2007.
Donna had a passion for gardening and took pleasure in canning, baking, and cooking. She made the best fleishkuechle, cheese buttons, knoephla, homemade noodles, and creamed chicken and dumplings and loved sharing these with her family. Donna also took great pride in her scrapbooking and gifted many family members with treasured books. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and every trip was well documented in a scrapbook. Donna also enjoyed many years of camping with family and friends and her camper always felt like "home". She also loved her puppies; Dakota and Festus; they were loyal, loving companions and will miss their momma very much.
Donna is survived by her husband of 56 years, Curt; daughter Angela (Dave) Ewanika, Frazee, MN; son Carey (Lisa) Kienzle, Bismarck; and son Clyde (Denise) Kienzle, Bismarck; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jane Casebaun, West Fargo, ND; Mary (Mark) Schmidt, Jamestown, ND; Verna (Dean) Scoular, Valley City, ND; Cathy (Doug) Dunn, Bismarck; Jessie (Terry) Heck, Helena, MT; brother Frank (Sandy) Kaufman, Rapid City, SD; along with several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Elmer Egerdahl and Tillie Kaufman; step-father Edgar Kaufman; sister Loretta Kaufman, father-in-law Gideon Kienzle, mother-in-law Edna (Kienzle) Harr, sister-in-law Karen (Kienzle) Globstad; and her furry friends Harley & Winnie.
