Delores Rose Knell, 91, Bismarck, passed away September 17, 2017, at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for two years. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 22, at 10:30 a.m. at Church of Corpus Christi. Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. at Bismarck Funeral Home
Delores was born March 1, 1926 to Ed and Rose Giesinger in Hazen, ND and lived on a farm north of Hazen.
She married Walter Knell on November 30, 1947. They lived in Hazen, Denver, Cando, Dickinson and Beach while Walt worked construction. They moved to Bismarck in 1964.
She taught at a rural school north of Hazen. After raising her four children, she worked at Sears for many years until her retirement.
Delores loved dancing with Walter, traveling, playing cards, bowling, cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Walter; their sons, Greg (Kay), Denver, CO, and Mark (Connie), Bismarck; daughter, Patricia, Devils Lake; grandchildren, Jacob (Jasmine) Knell, David (Fiance’ Jasmin) Knell; Jessica (Gabriel) Jefferson and Wyatt Knell; great-grandchildren, Isobelle Knell and Shaylee Jefferson; and sisters, Marvel Miller and Helen Brew.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Gwendolyn; brother, Lucas Giesinger.
In lieu of flowers, Delores requested memorials be given to Shiloh Christian School.
