Delmer Bickel, 83, Bismarck, died May 7, 2017 in a Bismarck hospital. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 10, at 10:00 a.m. at Bismarck Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Bismarck Funeral Home.
Delmer was born on July 1, 1933 to Henry and Lydia (Bremeier) Bickel, in New Salem. He was raised and educated in New Salem.
Delmer was united in marriage to Helen Opp on June 8, 1963 in Glen Ullin, ND. They farmed in the Blue Grass area north of New Salem until 1980, when they moved to Glen Ullin to manage the M & M Motel. In 1987 they moved to Bismarck, where he worked for Morris Tschider and the Bismarck Public Schools as a custodian.
Delmer loved spending time with his grandchildren and working in the yard and gardening. He was a member of Calvary Free Lutheran Church.
Delmer is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen, Bismarck; children: Nancy (Tadd) Huber, Bismarck, Nolan, Litchfield, MN; grandchildren: Tj, Zane & Rhamee Huber; brother, Marvin (Louise) Bickel, Glen Ullin; sister, Gertha Hoffman, Bismarck; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Delmer was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Ray Hoffman.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
