Corrine Vera Wagner/Beck passed away peacefully in her sleep October 6, 2017, in New Rockford, North Dakota at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd. She was 83.
Corrine was born to Walter and O’Linda Sue (Wagner) Wagner on May 2, 1934, in Manfred, North Dakota. When Walter passed away, O’Linda married Gottlieb Tonn. When O’Linda died Corrine was about seven years old, she was then adopted by her aunt and uncle Mr. Mrs. Jake Beck (Alvina Wagner). She was their only child. Corrine was blessed with a step mother, Arlene Dollinger (Mrs. Jake Beck) after Alvina’s passing.
Corrine went to Sheyenne River Academy in Harvey, North Dakota, where she was known as “Becky” and then to Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she met her husband, Chaney Loyse Gillham, from Happy, Texas.
After her husband’s tour of duty in Fort Riley, Kansas, Corrine and Chaney purchased the Geisinger farm in Progress Township near Bowdon, North Dakota. Corrine was a faithful friend and coworker with Chaney helping with farming all their farming years until they retired in 2010. They also farmed with her father, Jake Beck. In their early years on the farm, she loved to feed bottle calves. She and Chaney started Little Iron Toys in 1985 which she and Chaney operated together until just recently. She appreciated the friendships that she gained through this endeavor.
Corrine and Chaney loved to travel together often going on mission trips to help build churches or schools as well as vacation with several families from the local area snowmobiling in West Yellowstone.
For many years Corrine and Chaney were leaders in the Pathfinder youth group of the Bowdon Seventh-day Adventist Church where Corrine was a member. For many years Corrine was the pitcher of the Bowdon girl’s slow-pitch softball team. Corrine enjoyed visiting and fellowshipping with people and she loved to entertain in her home.
Corrine is preceded in death by both her parents and adoptive parents. She is survived by her step mother, Arlene Beck, Mesa, Arizona; husband, Chaney of Bowdon, North Dakota; two daughters Melodee (Mrs. George) Kerr of Roberts, Montana and Corleen Gillham, Fargo North Dakota; and six grandchildren – Luke Kerr of Phoenix, Arizona; Cody and Isaiah Kerr of Belfry, Montana; Jake and Megan (Starr) Kerr of Boyd, Montana; and Kalika and Solomon Taylor of Fargo, North Dakota.
