Cecelia Paul, 97, Bismarck, died November 3, 2017, in a Bismarck care center. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 10:30 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the
Bismarck Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Parish Vigil.
Cecelia was born on November 14, 1919, in Strasburg, ND to Anton and Rosalia (Hager) Schwahn. The youngest of eight children, Cecelia was raised in Emmons County on the family farm west of Strasburg.
Cecelia was united in marriage to Adam Paul on October 24, 1939, in Strasburg. Cecelia and Adam operated a farm 14 miles west of Strasburg until 1949 when they moved to Bismarck. Cecelia did house cleaning for various families in Bismarck for 26 years, but was most proud of the time she spent at the (old) Governor’s Mansion working for Gov. Brunsdale. Another family she worked for that became life-long family friends was Judge and Mrs. Charles Foster. She eventually went to work for the ARC Aid Thrift Store where she remained until retirement.
Cecelia was member of St. Mary’s Parish from 1949 until the time of her death.
She was also a long time member of the Catholic Daughters, Eagles Auxiliary, and the St. Mary’s Altar Society.
Cecelia is survived by her son: James (Priscilla), Mandan; grandchildren, Tom, Mandan; Tim (Becky), Bismarck, and Scott (fiancée Jennifer Roemmick) Mandan; great grandchildren Ashley, Sheyenne, Morgan, Jordan, Cody, and Jacob Paul.
Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband, Adam, granddaughter-in-law, Susan and infant twin grandsons, Jeffery and Stephan.
