William “Bill” Feist, 88, Bismarck, died August 3, 2018 at a Bismarck care center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday August 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Church of the Ascension, with Msgr. Jim Braaten officiating. Burial will be held at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday August 6 from 5-8pm at Bismarck Funeral Home with a rosary/vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service at the church.
William was born April 16, 1930 in Zeeland, ND to Joseph and Malonia (Malsom) Feist. He worked for the state highway department and the Garrison Dam as a surveyor. He was drafted by the US Army serving from September 1951 to June 1953. He married Dolores Ternes, October 25, 1954 and together they raised their four children. He owned and operated Feist’s Jewelry for over 40 years. Dolores died December 14, 1997. He married Isabel Lipp June 13, 2002.
He enjoyed being with family and friends. He was a member of the Elks, the American Legion, AmVets and the VFW.
He is survived by his wife Isabel; sons Keith (Lynn) Feist, Patrick (Carla) Feist, David (Renee) Feist and daughter Dorinda (Jeff) Eckroth, all of Bismarck; step-daughters Lunette (Todd) Sando, Bismarck and Lee Ann (Bruce) Brandner, Bismarck; step-son Alan (Jill) Lipp, Sartell, MN; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters; and 6 step-grandchildren; 1 step great grandson; brother Victor (Lucretia); and sister Josephine (John) Schatz; along with his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Dolores, one granddaughter Rebecca Eckroth; and his siblings Hilda Hulm, Adam Feist, Ben Feist and Sister Emmanuel O.S.B.
