Arlo F. Ohlhauser, 86, died January 1, 2018 at Strasburg Care Center. A funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Bismarck Funeral Home. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 4, at Bismarck Funeral Home.
Arlo F. Ohlhauser was born June 27, 1931 on a farm in Livona, ND, to Fred J. and Christine (Schnaible) Ohlhauser. He attended school west of Linton. Arlo married Phyllis Schneider on November 10, 1951. Following their marriage they lived southwest of Hazelton from 1955 to 1958. They then moved west of Linton where they farmed until his retirement.
Arlo served on the board of Farmers Union Oil Co., and also drove school bus for many years for Linton Public Schools. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, speaking German, fishing, hunting, playing cards and shooting pool. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Audrey Ekstrom (Myles Deisz), Bismarck; Donna Thomas, Irvine, CA; Sue (Garland) Erickson, Minot, ND; Arla (Syd) Lawler, Bismarck; Melissa (Andy) Knoepfler, Woodbury, MN; sons, Kevin (Kim) Ohlhauser, Minot; Tom (Marlys) Ohlhauser, Linton and Jerry (Thecla) Ohlhauser, Baldwin; brother, Arnold of Hazelton; 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; parents, Fred and Christine; brothers, Donald and Willis; son-in-law, Dennis Ekstrom; and grandson, Cory Ohlhauser.
