Arlene Mae (Rose) Kellar, 84, passed away June 15, 2018 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Funeral services will be held at 11:00, Friday, June 22, at Sunne Lutheran Church, Wilton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to time of service at the church.
Arlene was born September 17, 1933, on the farmstead in Reeder, ND, the daughter of Walter and Muriel (Krause) Rose. She attended country grade school in Reeder and graduated from Hettinger High School in 1952.
She had five children from her first marriage. She had two children with her second marriage. This marriage also brought with it seven additional children.
She worked as a waitress in various restaurants including the Mandan Dairy Queen, the Gourmet House in Mandan and Harvest House Café located in the Woolworth store in Bismarck. In 1972 she and her second husband made their home in Wilton where they owned and operated a grocery store/gas station called “The Bandit”. Arlene later became employed at St. Alexius Hospital in the Housekeeping Department until retirement.
Arlene enjoyed gardening and sharing her vegetables with family and friends. She had a green thumb in getting plants to grow and flowers to bloom and enjoyed watching all types of birds.
She was a very patient, caring and loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Arlene is survived by her children Steve (Ginny) McCallum, Dennis (Verna) McCallum, Bismarck, ND; Rodney (Kristen) McCallum, Raleigh, NC; Kathy (Gary) Speten, Wilton, ND; Tim (Brenda) Kellar, Bismarck, ND; Jerry (Leann) Kellar, Wilton, ND; Susan LeMeir, Bismarck, ND; Robert Kellar, Mandan, ND; Larry (Susan) Kellar, Mound City, SD; Marilyn (Burel) Monroe, Baldwin, ND; Charles Kellar, Lake Elsinore, CA. Two brothers, Gerald Rose, Bismarck, ND and Don (Arlene) Rose, New England, ND; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, one infant daughter (Lynda McCallum); one daughter, Karen Day; one son, Richard Kellar, one granddaughter, Krista Bonogofsky, and one great granddaughter (Mckenzie Ann).
