Anna Gabel, 84, Bismarck, died May 10, 2017 at the Baptist Care Center, Bismarck. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at McCabe United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Stewartsdale Cemetery, east of Bismarck.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 15 at Bismarck Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service.
Anna was born August 2, 1932 in rural Menoken, the daughter of Charles and Hazel (Brown) Malard. She grew up on a farm in Menoken. Anna married Eugene Gabel on August 8, 1953 and to this union their five children were born; Lyle, Kevin, Roxanne, Mark and Shelly. Anna was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening.
She loved her flower gardens, canning, fishing and crocheting. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Anna is survived by her husband of 64 years, Eugene; sons, Lyle (Debbie), and Mark (Roxie); daughters, Roxanne (Chuck) Serr and Shelly (Al) Kostelecky, all of Bismarck; her grandchildren: Jessica Gabel (Steve Marquardt), Mandan, Cody Serr, Bismarck, Brandy (Brock) Kiefel, Lincoln, Chad Gabel, Bismarck, Brandi (Jeremy) Sonneson, Mandan, Tyler Kosteleck (Thea Sickler), Bismarck, SGT Lace (SSG Brandon) Reed, Raeford, NC and PFC Hunter Gabel, Bismarck; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers: Leon (Leah), Eugene (Mary) and Elroy (Tina) Malard; and sister: Eunice, (Kenny) Rants.
Anna was preceded in death by her infant son, Kevin; her parents; sisters, Irene Miller, Marie Harr, Evelyn Clooten, Norma Olson, Bertha Meyers and Charline Gabel.
