Albert G. Berger, 82, Bismarck died peacefully March 28, 2018 at Richardton Health Center, Richardton, ND. A mass of Christian burial will be on Wednesday April 4, 2018 at 12 noon at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. Family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
Albert was born on June 4, 1935 in St. Vincent, ND to Kasper and Pauline (Weber) Berger. He was raised and educated in New Salem and graduated high school in Hazen in 1953 and joined the Army in 1954.
Albert served in the Army from July 29, 1954 and was honorably discharged July 17, 1956. He attained the rank of SP3. During his enlistment he was stationed in Germany. Albert was united in marriage to Mary Allers on July 30, 1960 in the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, ND. He earned an associates degree from Bismarck Junior College in 1961.
During his working years, he started in Gambles and at a bakery, worked in and also owned 3 bowling centers and a drive-in theater. After retiring, he worked at Sweetheart Bread Co., UPS and Walmart as he was always keeping busy. In his spare time, he liked to bowl, hunt and fish. He liked to travel, went on several cruises and visited 49 of the 50 states. Al and Mary were snow birds and spent many winters in Arizona and the last 3 winters in Florida. He was a lifetime member of the Order of the Moose, Order of the Eagles and VFW and a member of the American Legion/Amvets.
Albert is survived by his wife, Mary, Richardton, ND, his son, Ron, Mobridge, SD, daughter, Lori (Chuck) Dupre, Lehigh Acres, FL; sisters: Clara Wuertz, Mandan, Mae Steele, Lincoln, NE and Virginia Jones, Bismarck and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 8 brothers, 4 sisters and other various relatives.
