Max Widenhoefer

MAX WIDENHOEFER

Max Widenhoefer, 85, passed away, April 7, 2019, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck.  A memorial service will be held, on Friday, May 17, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  Burial will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Elgin, ND.

Max was born on September 22, 1933, in Elgin, North Dakota.  He was son of Reverend Ernest Widenhoefer and Margaret Durkop. Max attended school in Elgin and joined the Army 1953. He was stationed at Fort Sheridan, north of Chicago, Illinois, where he met his first wife, Mary Lou Hurtt, in 1955. They had five children Ernest, Don, Bruce, Craig, and Annette.  He was employed as a bus driver for the Chicago Transit Authority

.After a divorce Max moved back to Bismarck. He met his second wife Janice Mess and they were married on September 22, 1984.  Jan recently passed away, in June of 2018. Max and Jan enjoyed camping, fishing, taking car rides, and their condo. Max was very proud of his collection of tools. 

Max was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and sisters, Elaine Reinke and Martha Eisenbarth.

We would like to thank the staff of Missouri Slope for all their kind care and attention they provided to Max during his stay.
