So sorry for your loss. I knew your dad from his visits to your mom Ida while I worked at Elm Crest. I always learn much more about people after I read their obituaries. He really had quite the life. Your parents were ND nice Christian people and I'm sure they left a great legacy in all their family.

I feel very blessed and humbled to have married into this family. I married Bill's granddaughter. Bill and Ida immediately welcomed me into the family, sounds like a little thing but it was huge to me. I will remember his vivid recollection of days gone by. His detail when sharing a story was remarkable. He was a great model of a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His love and the pride he took in his family was ever present. Yes, he was an American hero, willingly serving his country with dignity and honor. But equally impressive, he was a hero to those closest to him by the example he set. His unconditional loyalty, his love and his servants heart will not be forgotten by his family and friends. He spoke many words of encouragement and of wisdom over the years. His words also produced many laughs and many smiles. I count him among the greatest men I have ever known. Like many, I will miss him on this earth. Like many, I am thankful for his life well lived and the investment he made in the people who loved him...including me. Thank you, Bill Ternes. May God Bless your legacy through those you touched and leave behind. I'm so happy my kids got to know their "Bo-Bill"...

uncle Bill will be missed by many as he has touched hearts of many. He has shared his life long stories with many and they were stories that will never be forgotten. He has now gone to join Aunt Ida to continue their journey. Keep the stories, jokes, and all the family times close to your hearts and know that there is family and friends still around to help each of you kids through this difficult time and carry on the legacy that Uncle Bill has shared with each and everyone of you. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten as the HERO he always will be. God Bless as our prayers are with you all.

Bill & ida lived behind me by the Holliday Inn from 1983 to 1989. They were such wonderful neighbors and friends! I have thought of them fondly through the years, especially how they loved my grapes growing in the back yard! I had a day care and Ida would help me out if the kids had a school play or some such thing. The obituary for Bill is beautiful! It did fail to mention how proud they were of their family, they loved each one of you! God Bless and keep the memories!! Karen McGarvey-Saxowsky

It was truly a pleasure getting to share time with this wonderful man. He always had a smile for us, a story to share, and chances to look over his projects in the shed.
